Sunrise over the Pearl of the Orient

Sunrise over Hong Kong. Breathtakingly beautiful. Tall buildings and skyscrapers spilling from the hills to the edge of the harbour. Surreal.

The photos were taken back in September 2015, from the 27th floor of East Hotel on Hong Kong Island. The views are of the eastern half of the Victoria Harbour and the Kowloon Peninsula.

Just after dawn; East end of Victoria Harbour.

So bright, yet so soft. Can't ignore it now.

Looking west toward the center of this
Sleepy harbour in morning mist - yes mist. East side of the harbour's center point.

Once the mist retreated over the hills, sadly, man-made plumes started rising from the dense concrete jungle across the harbour.

Kind of neat to watch the city wake up.
